Early adulthood can bring new responsibilities, changing relationships, career or educational decisions, and questions about the person you want to become. You may find yourself overthinking conversations, second guessing decisions, struggling with boundaries, or feeling caught between other people’s expectations and what feels right for you.

  • What We May Work On:
    • Recognizing when thoughts are helpful and when overthinking keeps you stuck.
    • Challenging unhelpful assumptions and responding to uncertainty more effectively.
    • Building confidence in decisions, relationships, and everyday interactions.
    • Developing healthy boundaries and communicating needs more clearly.
    • Navigating transitions while identifying personal values and meaningful goals.
  • The Goal:
    • To help you understand yourself more clearly, respond to challenges with greater intention, and make choices that reflect the life and relationships you want to build.

What to Expect in Your First Session

Starting therapy  therapy can bring questions about what to share, how the process works, and whether you’ll feel comfortable with your therapist. You do not need to have all the answers before your first appointment.

The initial session is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to counseling, learn more about your background and current concerns, and begin identifying goals for therapy.

Together, we’ll discuss relevant history, current challenges, strengths, and the kind of support that may be helpful. We’ll also review important information about the therapeutic process, confidentiality, and expectations for online sessions.

Sessions are collaborative, and you can ask questions as we go. Clients are encouraged to participate actively in shaping their treatment approach. We move at your pace, and you remain in total control of what you choose to share. The aim is to establish a clear starting point and develop an approach that reflects your needs and goals.

All services are provided via secure telehealth throughout Texas.

FAQ: Common Questions about Online Therapy Texas

It is completely normal to want to ensure your therapist ‘gets’ you before starting. The first 53 minutes are dedicated to building a foundation. It’s a thorough “get to know you” session where we walk through the practicalities—like confidentiality and logistics—while diving into the history that brought you here. I’ll ask a lot of questions about your background, your support system, and your medical history to help me understand the full picture.

Because we are gathering so much information to create your treatment plan, these initial sessions can sometimes feel emotionally intense or even a bit draining- that is a very normal part of the process. This is just as much for you as it is for me; it’s your opportunity to see if you feel heard, safe, and respected in our conversation. If at the end of our first session we realize the connection isn’t the right fit for your specific needs, I will provide referrals to other trusted mental health professionals to ensure you find the support you’re looking for.

Many clients are surprised by how quickly the ‘screen’ disappears. Telehealth offers a unique level of comfort—you (or your teen) can be in your own safe space, with your own pets or comforts nearby, which often leads to deeper breakthroughs. Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions, with the added benefit of no commute and easier scheduling for busy Texas families.

I specialize in working with teens who might be skeptical or resistant. I don’t show up as an intimidating ‘authority figure’; I show up as a teammate. I meet teens where they are—whether that’s talking about their favorite game, their frustrations with school, or the heavy stuff they aren’t ready to tell anyone else. My goal is to build a relationship of trust first; the ‘work’ follows naturally once they feel seen and respected.

Absolutely. Your privacy is my top priority. I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform specifically designed for healthcare professionals. This is much more secure than standard platforms like FaceTime or Zoom. As long as you are in a private space on your end, our conversation remains completely confidential, just as it would be in a physical office.
